It鈥檚 the day 4 years in the making for med students. The Medical College of Georgia holding the annual Match Day celebration at SRP Park. Parents and faculty coming together to celebrate 269 students taking the next step in their careers. This year鈥檚 class includes 201 students from MCG in 麻豆果冻传媒, and nearly 70 from the UGA Medical Partnership in Athens.

With a new theme each year, the eagerly awaited Match Day celebration is one of the
most memorable and fun events of medical school.
On the same day, medical students across the country receive their envelopes with information about where they matched for residency.

麻豆果冻传媒GUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Medical students at the Medical College of Georgia celebrated Match Day on Friday, learning where they will complete their residencies. The event took place at SRP Park at 10:45 a.m. Students dressed in costumes to mark the transition from students to doctors. This year鈥檚 costume theme was 鈥淲hat would you be, if not a doctor?鈥� Match Day signifies more than residency placements. It marks the entry of new healthcare professionals as states report provider shortages. 鈥淚t鈥檚 what is kind of the end goal, which is to be somebody鈥檚 doctor one day, be somebody鈥檚 OB-GYN one day, which is just an incredible feeling,鈥� said Ananya Chakraborty, a student.
